Narrator: So Rich, it’s Crackman case study time once again, and you have one today that involves a golf ball?
Crackman: I got a call from the Principal of a school in Quincy. He was having water come into his daughter’s bedroom. It was in a corner of a finished basement. He opened up the wall a little bit and found no cracks. By the time I arrived, he had run water outside like had instructed him to do. He could not get any water to come in. Water was coming from somewhere, we had to find out where. We put a golf ball on the ground just to see which way it would run. We found out that the foundation was pitched so that water would run towards that corner where he was having problems. We went under the house and found a hole in the ground. A bolt from a pedestal sump pump had broken through. We determined that the pump was not pushing out enough water to keep from flooding the area. We put a submersible pump in and that solved the problem. We’ve had a lot of rain recently and that pump is doing fine keeping all the water out. He just now needs to repair the wall and he and his daughter will be back in business.
